Damp appears in many forms from bubbling paint to cracked plaster and even mould. Inside your home damp can have a negative effect on your health and those with lung related problems will be most at risk. On the outside, apart from being aesthetically unpleasant, damp will erode the plaster, saturate the wall and eventually cause damp internally.
Damp can occur on interior and exterior walls. If penetrating damp is a problem, it’s often due to structural problems, such as damaged guttering, roofing or cracks in the wall. As your building ages the damp course deteriorates which allows moisture from the ground to rise up into your walls and cause damp both internally and externally.
Damp-proofing is essential to maximizing the durability and longevity of any building be it resdential, commercial or industrial.
